Good afternoon everybody, welcome back to my blog! It sure has been an interesting couple of weeks. It is absolutely crazy to me that we are possibly about to encounter something serious enough to cause colleges and schools across the country to finish their semesters online. However, in the midst of all of this craziness, I have found myself clinging to music tighter than normal to get me through the current unknown. My second song that I am choosing to share with you guys has been one of my favorites for a long long while now. The song is: The Spins by Mac Miller.

This song is a little different from the previous song I posted because you cannot find it on Spotify. To listen to this song, I either play it on Youtube or Soundcloud. The Spins is from Mac Miller’s fourth mixtape entitled K.I.D.S. and it was originally only distributed on digital mixtape services. It is heard to be rumored that it will be released on Spotify and Apple Music very soon (fingers crossed). The song samples Empire of the Sun’s ‘Half Mast’ and creates a super cool and funky song that is easy to jam out too on any given day.

As many know, Mac Miller was an indie rapper who died of an overdose in September of 2018. Lately, I have found myself playing his music and celebrating his appreciation of life that he portrayed in his lyrics. The Spins is one of those songs that makes you want to make memories. The moment I hear the first few beats of the song, it brightens my mood drastically and I can’t even explain why. The song combines the alternative and groovy melody of Empire of the Sun, while also brings out the funky sound of Mac’s voice and the happiness of the lyrics. It is the type of song that has been a summer favorite for me every single year since I was probably in seventh grade. I know that many people are not into “mainstream” or rap music, but this song does not fit under any one category. It truly is a great song that I hope everyone gets the chance to listen to at least once. I encourage you guys to not only just let the song play, but to try and understand and appreciate life and the lyrics of the song.

Here’s a link to The Spins on Soundcloud and Youtube, check it out! 🙂
